I am an Indian citizen currently based and working in Connecticut. I am going to get married in the first week of January and need to make sure that I go about filing all the required paperwork in the correct order (my fiancee is an American Citizen). Can anyone please assist me with my questions:
Once I get married what paperwork do we need to file with the INS. Do I need to have a lawyer for all this. Is this a process that takes a lot of time or not. I am currently on my EAD (after college graduation) set to expire in 03/04. If the process does take longer than that what steps can I take to make sure that I can still keep working (I do not have an H-1 yet) without a problem. Do I need to file some paperwork to keep working and if yes, what paperwork.
I am really very nervous about this and will appreciate any help that you can provide me with the same.
