Getting married; questions about GC

I'm getting married in the US to my US-citizen boyfriend and we plan to apply for my GC right after that. The wedding is in early July and we hope to be able to apply by mid-July to the San Francisco office. I'm currently on an F1 visa, which significantly limits my ability to work off-campus, and I would like to get my work-permit/EAD as soon as possible.

--If we apply by mid-July to the San Francisco office, when can I reasonably expect to get my EAD?

--This is probably too good to be true, but I was told by a friend that submitting the GC, I-765 applications in person at the immigration office and getting my passport stamped at that time should entitle me to work legally in the US. Is this really true?

--I was also told (by a more reliable friend) that if it takes the USCIS longer than 90 days to process my application for a work permit, I can get a temporary one. Is this true? And how long does it take to get the temporary permit? :)

--I can also apply for an EAD as part of the Optional Practical Training (OPT)provision of my F1 visa (and I can get this to start in August.) Am I allowed to apply for two EADs -- first on the basis of my F1 OPT and a month or two later on the basis of adjusting status? Is it very silly even to contemplate this?

--Can I go on leave from my university starting September 2006 given that I will already have filed to adjust status, or should I continue to be registered at school? (The difference is just a few hundred dollars.)

--What is the rough timeline once all the documents and applications (for AOS, EAD and advance parole) have been submitted? How long does it take to get an interview in the San Francisco area?

Sorry to ask so many questions. Many thanks in advance for all your help.
