Getting citizenship sooner ?

One of the things that it sad about my life in America is that my wife has been unable to work since we arrived here. That has been a constant frustration and almost made go back home. From the time my employer worked, filed and got an approved labor certification on my behalf, almost four years elapsed. Now this I-140 processing times are taking more than a year.

Do you think we could contact senators or somehow file an appeal that could let the clock toward citizenship start ticking from the time Labor was filed, instead of when we get the greencard ?

Unless you are affected by retrogression, your pending I-140 allows you and your wife to file an I-485 and an I-765, get an EAD and start working.

You can certainly ask, but Terri Schaivo has a better chance of rehabilitation than you do of succeeding, 'fraid to say. Don't get me wrong - under such a circumstance I'd be applying for citizenship now - but it's not going to happen.
