Getting a copy of 140 approval notice from attroney

Hello All,
My 140 was approved recently and the approval notice was received by attorney. I requested them to send me a copy of the approval notice for my records but they came back saying that they cant release the notice for record keeping but can only release it under 'certain circumstances' (which were not specified in their response). The law firm would hold on to the notice in my case file.

My question, is the 140 approval notice needed in any of the applications like EAD, AP? (If I were to be filing these on my own)
Have any of you asked for it and if so with what reason? Rather could you suggest some valid reasons for which I can ask them for this.

abhi_c,
I dont think u need ur 140 approval copy for any other applications( for ur EAD or AP).. But if you are thinking of switching ur employer then it is always better to have a copy with u.. good luck..
