My RTD was valid for 60 days and I entered Germany and stayed for 17 days without any incident. The officer asked me the reason for my stay and stamped my RTD. No questions about why my RTD isn't valid longer etc....
When returning, I asked the officer how long the RTD should be valid for and he said they treat RTD holders as U.S Citizens who don't require a visa. He told me they normally require a U.S Citizen to have his passport valid at least TWO more days than his stay..Same applies for RTD holders. I didnt argue with him about what the Embassy says....
However he did ask me what other countries I intended to visit and I told him Germany and thats it.
The U.S Immigration at NY Kennedy was not bad at all. The initial officer said that "You are not U.S Citizen, next time stand in the other line."...I could've said "but i am not a visitor either."...but I didnt want to piss the already pissed-off officer.
Inside the officer was nice. He stamped my RTD and waved the RTD at me to pick it up...only asking how long I was gone for. No questions asked as to If I have gone to my country etc or what country I had visited.
I was surprised the way they treated me knowing that London Bombings and how guarded immigration becomes with a terror attack...
