Germany Experience

Just came back from a trip to Asia and Germany. The immigration officers at Frankfurt airport did not know that as an RTD holder, I did not need a visa to Germany. I had to show them the letter from the Miami consulate, and they finally stamped my RTD. The same thing happend when I was leaving the Frankfurt airport, I had to explain to the immigration officer that I did not need a visa and had to show them the letter again. Anyone who travels to Germany with an RTD should have the letter with them. Coming back to the US was not a problem, the IO at the Newark airport was very nice, just asked me two questions and stamped my I-94.

Just got a letter from USCIS for REF in March. Does any know, after re-taking fingerprints, how long does it take them to approve the I-485. My ND was Dec. 1999.

What is the RFE about?

Welcome back, gino.

if i am mistaken i recall you posting a link about that letter from german consulate. I am having hard time find it. could you post it again, please, if possible?

Also i got another qusetion for you. Since you have traveled a lot, would you know what is i should do if a country i want to visit does not recognise and does not issue visas on RTD?
anybody else had similar experience?

thanks a lot

jw1951, I got a letter from CIS to re-do my fingerprints, they expired a couple of months ago. So, I hope they will approve my I-485 shortly after taking my fingerprints.

Asylee25,

I will try to find the letter, I got it from someone else. I transited through UAE, which is one of the countries that does not recognize RTD. So I called the emabssy in Washington about this and they told me that it is ok to transit, but I would not be able to enter UAE. You just cannot travel to the countries which do not recongnize RTD. Hope this helps.

gino and others,
I never got a request to do finger print for my asylum-based I-485. My notice date was July 2000.

Is it unusual to NEVER got a notice? It seems like everyone gets a notice for FP.

Thanks,
