German Tourist Visa

Hello everyone,

I applied to get my RTD back in January, but I'm really losing hope of getting it in time. I already got my tickets for Germany and I'm hoping to travel in July.
Since I became LPR last year, I have made the decision to renew my NP since my COP doesn't care, and I have no intention of going there.
My question is if anyone has recently applied for a German Tourist Visa using a NP. I went to Germany last summer with my RTD while I was still an asylee and I've been reading that that they deny you a visa in you NP if you have been there with an RTD.... I don't know what to do since I don't want to lose my tickets..

According to german and international law, ex-asylee's should not renew their NPs. If you tell them that you went with RTD, they may not deny you but will question you heavily regarding the reason for you to renew your NP.

Chances are they may ask you to get a RTD but you never know. If you have a solid reason and if you have any family members in germany, you can get a visa very easily. Your family members can get an affadavit of support and after looking at that, its more stronger of a case.

If they give you trouble that you went by using a RTD, you can explain to them regarding the backlog and the reason for your visit is a strong one.

You have nothing to lose because by trying at least you can see if you can use your ticket. SInce your class has changed from asylee to PR, you have done nothing wrong in renewing your NP according to the U.S Immigration law.

You can get your visa and travel to germany, you just need to get it in one of the countries belonging to schengen agreement visa program, you can say that you final destination is france with a stop....in germany!!!

Just an idea!!!!!! :)

Thanks for your input. Actually, I'm going with my bf (he is German) and we are visiting his family. I hope that helps a little. I think I will just try and see what happens...

I think this is going to be my last resort. Don't I still have to proof that I'm staying more time in France (for example) with hotel reservations and such?
What a headache.. If only the INS was more efficient

Don't go to any other embassies or create fake reservations etc...Your BF is german so thats a huge plus. Tell the truth and you will be ok.
