German Airport Transit Visa not needed if you have valid US Visa

vivekm

You are correct but, I think you are confused. The discussions what are going on now is for the people who don't have valid visa in their passport, but wish to travel outside US via Europe and who want's to re-enter US using AP.

The questions are whether we need a transit visa at transit points like Frankfurt, Amsterdam, etc.

In EU, if you have a valid US visa, you don't need a transit visa. However, you need one, if you don't have a valid US visa.

The question is, whether AOS applicants (with I-485 receipt notice and AP) are treated equivalent to valid US visa or not.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input. I was only trying to clarify the matter for those who have valid visas (not 485/AP, which in my opinion should be treated as a valid visa, but I am not sure if they do).

Many of my friends talked to me about transit visa ( friends who have H1Bs and Permanent US Residency), and thats the confusion I was talking about . Thought would help folks here once they get their green cards.

do we need original I-485 receipt

Hi,

I plan to travel via Frankfurt and come back using AP. Since I have time , i plan to take a transit visa.

one question I had was : Do you need original I-485 receipt. I have a fax copy sent by my lawyers. They will not give me the originals. will that do?

Fax/photocopies of I-485 receipts will do. Also, get the transit visa well in advance.
