General status Doubt

Here is the situation..

Applied I-485 in Aug 2002.
got EAD in JAN 2003

EAD expires JAN 2004. and If working on EAD (No H1)
Applied Extn of EAD - END OF NOV 2003 - Hopefully in this or next week.

IF EAD is not Approved by JAN 2004.
1. What would be my status?? I will not be having a work permit to work and cannot apply for interim EAD as it is not more than 90 days.
2. Can I stay in the country?
3. can i work from the time first EAD expires till I get the second one?

You can stay in the country, but you cannot work untill you get your second ead or atleast an i-ead.
You can work out some sort of a deal with your employer as to not pay you untill that time, but when you get the second ead, give you a bonus (which will be the pay for the work u did)
