I received my GC in October 2004 and it had my first name spelled out wrongly. At that time I could not file for its replacemnet as I had to go to my home country for a family emergency and I came back to US within less than a year. I declared the incorrect info on my card at the port of entry and the officer told to me to go and replace at the immigartion office in the area I live.
Even last year after figuring out the whole procedure for replacing the card I had to go back home after two weeks..... and am planning to return to US by early Sept with the same old card where my first name is misspellt!!!!!!.
My question is: will the whole procedure for my GC replacement be affected by the fact that I have been outside US longer than 6 months but less than a year?
Once you file I-90 how long does it take to receive their notice receipt?
Do I have to hire a lawyer to assit me in this whole mess?
