GC through marriage

I am a British citizen recently married to a US citizen, I am presently residing outside the US due to work, but it is my intention to move to US soon. My spouse will be applying for my residency through I 130 and I 485, once the temp GC is received, will I be able to travel freely in and out of the country?

If you are outside of the U.S., you would go through consular processing. She would file I-130 (and not I-485), and you would conduct interviews etc. through your consulate. At then end you will receive an immigrant visa from the consulate and when you enter the U.S. you would become a permanent resident. The whole process takes about a year.
