GC or SS which comes first?

Guys I have just received a US immigrant visa from the US embassy.I'll be arriving in the States in March.At the embassy they stamped my passport with an immigrant visa and handed over a sealed packet.My question is:
At the POE,they'll stamp my passport again.So what happens next?Will I get the social security card first or the green card?How long does it take for either?

How did you get your visa? Is it a family based case, Green card lottery, ...?
After you arrive here, you would go to a social security office and apply for your SS card.
I am not sure how long it takes the USCIS to send you the Green Card (if that's the case).
 
I am a family based immigrant(unmarried son over 21 of USC).
Somebody tells me the packet that the embassy has handed me,itself contains the GC because one of his friends got it this way.Is it true?
 
that,s not true, embassy dont issue green cards, once u get to poe they will stamp ur passport with temporary I55 which is good for work and travel and is valid for a year.,take ur picture,index finger print and signature.and ur green card will came in the mail, good luck
 
roxio or anyone who knows the answer.I would like to know after a family based priority date has been reach how many months after the embassy will take to schedule an apointment(interveiw).
