GC Interview Upcoming: Will Removal Proceedings Hinder? Your expert opinion please...

I was married before removal proceedings were initiated. I entered the country legally as a child and have had a SSN the whole time... just recently fell out of status because the family's petition was denied. Since I didn't even know I was out of status until the removal proceedings, I filed the I130/I485 etc after, but I'm still in court proceedings (which have been pended until after the interview).

I've read just about every interview experience thread on this forum and I'm wondering: will the fact that removal proceedings were initiated after my marriage make my interview tougher? I haven't interviewed before, the marriage is bona fide, no previous marriages, known each other for 7 years, etc. Any precedent or experience on this?

My interview is in downtown Los Angeles. Any recent experiences at that office?

Thanks very much! I hope to contribute my (hopefully positive) experience in detail in a couple of weeks.

Hate to break it to you but since you entered the country legally and are now in removal proceedings the USCIS does not have jurisdiction over your greencard application. Only the Immigration Judge has jurisdiction right now. The Immigration Judge or your attorney should have explained that to you.

your I485 application cannot be adjudicated till your removal proceedings have been terminated. At that point you have an option to let the IJ review and approve your I485 or it can get sent to the local district office for adjudication.

Thanks for the input, guys. I may have phrased it incorrectly since I'm not very well versed with the legal immigration lingo, but I definitely have an interview date in hand. When I went in for my last court date, my attorney explained to the judge that I'm about to be interviewed, and the judge pended the case. From what I've been told, as long as I pass the interview, the judge will terminate removal proceedings and do whatever else is necessary for me to be granted GC.

Given the above, any input on the interview/case?

Please help guys, interview coming up soon. I know that this community is very knowledgeable, which is why I'm seeking your advice. Thank you.

Who is your judge? I'm asking because it seems like the judge is doing things backwards. Here is the problem, when you go for the interview it is possible that the IO will look at your case and say that he does not have jurisdiction over your greencard application. Then he could administratively close your application. Then you will have to go back to the judge and ask for a termination of proceedings or ask for the judge to adjudicate the greencard.
