I got my Green Card Approval in May 2005 (17th May). According to USCIS Website, I am eligible to apply for naturalization after 5 years of permanant residence. However, in this forum, I see people with Jan 2005 have applied for N-400 some time in October 2009. So, when am I REALLY eligible to apply for Naturalization.

Advance thanks for the info, this forum has been of great help during my GC process. Hope to get the same for my citizenship process too!

3 months before you PR 5 yr approval(date showing on your GC). So 90 day's before May 17. Count them, sometime in Feburary...

Correct. At the same time, note that CIS is proceeding at record speed, and many many people are getting to interview in 60-80 day from filing. This results in a "decision can not be made" which delays the whole process anyway. To play the odds, check your DO processing times, and if it is fast, apply 75 days before the 5 year anniversary.
