I am a permanent green card holder, through asylum. I have been with my girlfriend for a year and we want to get married. She is currently visiting me here in the US. If we get marry can she stay legally in the country ? I understand that she will not get get a green card but can she stay legally while I become a citizen in 2011? I would take care of all her expenditures so she does not need to work.

please help in expalining the posibilities and what I need to do.

Thanks

No, as a GC holder you may sponsor her for a GC but that takes at least 5 years. She must maintain her own legal status. If she does not, she is subject to detention and deportation. Once you naturalize, you can upgrade her application and she will have a GC within a year from that filing.

Read the USCIS website on family based immigration.
