Hello,
I am on an assignment outside of US for a US based company. With that being said, I am on the regional P&L and not tied in anyways to the US office right now. Below are some of the details:

1. GC holder since Jan 2005
2. Been out of US for not more than 2.5 months at any given time
3. Have reentry permit (I-131) since Nov 2008
4. Am employed by a US based firm outside of US and am on their regional P&L (non-US P&L)
5. Family and kids still in US
6. Own a home in US
7. Have all the investments and 401K in US
8. Left US in March and planning to return back in 2-3 weeks for a 3-4 days and then again in June for 3 weeks
9. Have visited some ME countries as part of job so have visa stamps from these countries (would this raise some doubt?)

I don't intend to stay outside of US for more than 3-4 months (Planning to come back by September)

My question is "how should I prepare myself to enter into the US in next 2 weeks or so and what should I expect"? What questions should I expect? Is my situation too grim to worry about?

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

You should have checked with an attorney before accepting the assignment to determine what should be done to insure you maintained your GC with the fewest problems. From your I-131 paperwork, that may have been done without your direct contact with him. That being said, your company's immigration attorney is still your best source of information for your specific circumstances. I am not as pessimistic as you appear to be.

The time period we are talking about is so short that there is no way he will have problem re-entering.

If this was May 2010, we might have some cause for concern, but not now.
