Hi Folks,

I am on Bench w no pay. I am looking for other opportunities. Meanwhile am I be eligible for Unemployment or do I have to literally quit or be layed off ?

JL

Thank you JoeF: Your thoughts on the following Please

I have been on bench for the last two months and was being paid 1/2 my salary. If I quit will I get a percentage of 1/2 my salary or my percentage of my full salry ?

regards

JL

Unemployment benefits are based on how much money you\'ve made and paid

As you work, payments are made for "Unemployment Insurance" (which is state run unemployment that provides benefits). How much you are paid is based on how much you have paid in (I think over the last 18 months) and it is capped. The cap is $475 per week in NJ, I don\'t know about other states.

Unemployment Benefits if one is on EAD

Hi Jim,

Can one apply for unemployment benefits even if he\'s on EAD only? Will it affect the I-485 status in case?

Thanks,

zapped22, Yes, he can. Eligibility will be determined based on dates of employment

Regarding I-485, I know cases when dependant received unemployment benefits, and I-485s for everyone were approved without any problems (RFE, transfers to local offices, whatever).
