I have not been at this forum for awhile. Here is an immigration & love story with the questions for JoeF and other immigration experts.
I have a question for my friend. He got a GC 2 years ago however one year ago he met a girl who came to USA on J1 Visa to work in the student camp. He thought that she could be the one in his life so he has found a school for her and the lawyer and he signed an affidafit of support to help her to get F-1 Visa ( she did not have to fill out any waiver to switch from J1 ). However several weeks later she left him after the package of the documents was sent to INS. He totally forgot about her and he did not know if she got F1 Visa or she left the country but recently he got a phone call from INS. They asked about her ex-girlfriend: who was going to pay for the education, who paid the attorney fee since he has signed an affidafit for her. He told the truth, that she left him and she was going to pay for the education on her own and she was working ( probably illegally ) to pay for the education.
Now the question: could he have any potential problems because of this ? ( the signed affidafit but he did not pay for the education since she left him ) ? He does care what is going to happen to her ( most likely she will be in troubles after he told INS this story ).
