GC Holder Adoption

I am a permanent resident and we recently adopted my wife's nephew. She's living with the infant child abroad. I have filed for the I-130 petition. It will be 3 years more before I'm eligible for US citizenship. So that would be at least 3 years before my wife can come here in the US(either by I-485 or k3 visa; we got married after I got my green card). My question is: Will the child be able to come with her to the US at the same time? By that time, they would have satisfied the 2-year custody requirement(?). What should we do to ensure that this happens? Thanks in advance.

yes, it will be about 6 years for her to get her immigr. visa, if you don't become a citizen, and about 4 years if you do (time till you become a citizen + time to get the visa). By that time the 2-year requirement will be satisfied.

She probably won't have time to get K-3 visa, and should opt directly for the immigrant visa, since I-130 is filed for her already. WHen you become a citizen, you should inform the National Visa Center of it so that they would transfer her petition into immediate relatives category. Your adopted child should be included in that petition, I think, or a separate petition may be filed. You should read up on that.
