GC for Parents? Apply in U.S or India

I have a general question. I am thinking of applying GC for my parents. They have a 10 year multiple entry visitor visa. So, is it better to bring them here in U.S and apply for the GC here or is it faster to apply in India?

My dad can easily find work here, so if he applies GC from U.S, he can get the 485 - EAD which I think one can get in two months, so that he can start working immediately. Am I right? So, in that aspect I think it is better to apply GC while staying in U.S? But is the process slower here than done in India? Whats the current waiting time for GC for parents done in India and U.S?


Also, What other benefits do parents get if they get the GC? Do they get the social security ?

If applications do not get stuck in name check, currently AOS is moving faster than CP.

Yes, AOS applicant can work with EAD. Refer to CIS website, parents sticky thread, consular processing forum and various posts to get an idea on timelines.
