GC for parent when they visit on Tourist visa

Hello,

Hello I am USC
My parents have a visitor visa interview in August in chennai and if they get it they might come right away.

My questions is, what would be the best way to apply for their GC. SHould I apply when they come here and can they over stay once they come here on Visitor visa waiting for their GC .

Or it does not matter, they would still have to go back home once their visitor visa expries and wait till they hear from USCIS local office in india

Also is there limitation on how quickly can they come back to US once they return back after 6 months.

Either way I am try ing to see if they can stay here once they come here and dont have to travel to and fro

Any info/help is highly appreciated

If they get their visitor visa and come here and you file immidiately for their GC, they can stay here forever. They will not have to go back after their 6 months is over because they will be in AOS status. :)

Are you sure about this info As I want to be absolutely sure about this. Also is it true that the first time people get the visa only for 6 months and not 10 year multiple entry visa

This is absolutely true. Ofcorse I am not a lawyer but as per my knowledge, this is 100% true. 6 months visa or multiple visa really depends on the immigration officer. But it is not the law that you have to get a 6 months visa before you can get multple visa. I know a number of cases where they got multiple visa. In your case it doesn't matter if your parents get 6 months visa because after you file for them they will get their GC within 6months to 2 years.

The question regarding the term was b/c a colleague of mine siad that first time they only give yuo a 6 month visa and secodn time whenyou apply they will give you 10 year multiple entry visa

I have seen so many elder people(some of them are my close relatives) getting multiple for even 1st time. But as I told you it doesn't matter to you. You are anyway going to file for there GC.
