GC for my spouse, should I wait?

I got my GC in July, 2002. Then I got married in Jan. this year. I want to apply the GC for my wife. However, since the waiting period for PR spouse GC is at least 5 years, should I wait until I become citizen?

If I apply for her now, will that help her working in US? She is in H1B now.
