GC for father who used to hold a GC 20 years ago

Hello,

I'm a US citizen, and would like to sponsor a green card for my father, an Indian citizen currently living in India. However, he used to hold a GC for several years until it expired in the mid-80s since he did not return to the United States. As a result he also has a Social Security Number. Can anyone advise on whether the (now expired) GC that he used to hold will have some kind of positive, negative or no impact on the new sponsorship application that I plan to submit?

Thanks much!

Anyone know anything about this?

I couldn't find information on this anywhere. I'd appreciate any kind of inputs from anyone out there :-)

thanks.

Hi, I am looking at a similar case for my grandfather. In his case we have a new I-130 petetion approved but now he still receives finger print request on his old A number while he has been allocated a new A number. We were told not file for a I-485 again. Do I have to file a I-485 as well?

Thanks

if old I-485 is pending, I don't see why you'd have to file another one. I have two A#s, and I don't plan on filing a new I-485 just because they issued another A# to me.
