Friend of mine got his plastic this saturday 4/23/05 his Nd is FEb 2000 but the thing is that the GC says PERMENANT RESDIENT SINCE 95 and it is exactly the day he came to the USA, his case was approved in court in 1998, so they gave him the green card back dated to the day he came not even from the approval,, I saw the card with my own eyes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USCIS style. They always do something strange and most of the time stupid :). Well, ur friend can apply for 2 things - renew his GC and or apply for citizenship.

Let him apply for citizenship nowwwwwwwwwww and ask him not to alert them about this mistake. A member of this forum had an RTD valid for 2 years and called them then they took it away from him

Ins Mess

This INS mess is getting me upset... 2years ago they put on my EAD country of origin--NIGER and this year they put NEPAL... now this is funny, i am not suprised my friend got his GC when he filed for AOS less than 3 months and another friend filed 4 years ago with no response.... INS HAS A BIG LOOP HOLE, my sister they put on her EAD catergory A4... but she is actually A5... too much of nonsense... i can list a page of mistakes from INS..

My brother and I are from Sudan both of us were born in India we were granted asylum here as Sudanese and everytime we apply for a RTD we specify very clearly that we are Sudanese but they keep making the same mistake everytime and write our country of origin as India. In my travels abroad I had to take my birth certificate with me cos I have been questioned on a number of occasions about my coutry of origin (I don't look like an Indian). Also both of US had applied for TPS years ago and our applications was rejected by the Newark office(I received a reply from them 3 years later) coz we are "Indians" even though we applied with our Sudanese passports. I moved to Utah and applied a year after my initial application, and was granted TPS right on the spot, the IO in Utah called the Newark office to verify If I had applied for TPS through their office, they corfirmed it and said that the applicaion was still pending, and then 2 years later I get a rejection letter from the Newark office even though I was granted TPS in Utah!!! I don't know how such inefficiency is allowed to continue!

Same here. INS repeatedly put my country of birth in my RTD instead of the country of my citizenship, which creates additional problems for me to get a visa.

Wow

Another friend of my got his GC THRU a woman but none was called for interview and he filed less than 7 months ago..

I dotn know INS has problems, my brother tried to get his SSN CARD to unrestricted but they said no bcos in the INS system he is a conditional resident now he has A5 status, just like me and i have my SSN CARD unrestricted..

My mother went to london about 3 months and the port of entry at JFK, they reinterviewed her like she just came into the country as a refugee, now mind you she has her RTD.. i was so upset bcos i waited for her at the airport for 4 hours....

My friends green card will expire in 2015 !!!!!!,, and yes he is not going to call cis,, and he is applying for citizen

My friend applied for extending his visa and they gave him a new I-94 with extended visa with the WRONG COUNTRY CITIZEN...he wanted to send it back but it took 3 months to get that..and anotehr 3 months would've made him out of status..soo he took it.

I would wait as required by law. They might find out about mistake and create all kind of problems. Whats a point. He already got a GC. Another 4-5 years and journey will be over.

I disagree with ayyubov..Just apply for the citizenship..I mean once in a while we have to use their mistakes for our advantage...Its nothing illegal..! The INS has registered him being PR since 1995 so y go mess with that? its not like he illegally went into INS's computers and changed the date...

Oh yes

Oh yes take advantage for it, do it right now dont even wait because if they do computer audit before the end of the fiscal year they might see the error but if you do it and it goes ok--you will not be in the GC system no more.. do it now.

Yeah and then somebody can and will find out tomorrow and the result will be that u got citizenship illegally. It calls playing with fire.

It is not Illegal. He has a legal document (GC) showing the date of issue. :p

Well illegal is that he had to notify INS of the mistake and failed to do so. That might give them a chance for legal action against him. I'm talking about possibility of getting in trouble. I know that many of us are dreaming of citizenship including myself but after such a long journey I wouldn't take any risk at all.

Yes,, he is doing it already, i just printed the form N-600 ( is this the right one) for him and he is going to apply, he suppose to recive the GC for the rest of the family (wife and kids) soon i will let you guys know if they back dated or no

I love this forum, this is where we know if INS HAS A LOOPHOLE OR NOT... the least they will tell you is that you dont qualify .. let see wha happens..

HI everyone

I agreed with Ayyubov. I believe ashgajo your friend need to go to INS Local Service with is GC and show them the mistake, otherwise hi/her if apply for Citizenship and if INS find out later on.
His application for Citizenship can be denial, this is my advice I can be wrong.

Thank-you.

Clearly it is a mistake, but it's a mistake of immigration. If they figure out later about the mistake they have to assume its mistake, and not the applicant who was so innocent :p to understand immigration policies. ;)
