GC approved,but passport stamping denied - case reopened

Hi,

We had applied for my parents GC through consular processing. Both of their GC was approved and they were asked to submit their Passports at the VFS office in Mumbai.

My dad's got his passport stamped within a week, but my mom's passport didnt arrive for almost a month. there is no way of going to the consulate to inquire as they do not allow anyone inside.

We sent a mail to the consulate and just got a response back that they are re-investigating and have reopened her Case.

Has anyone here had such an experience? is this normal? she never had any issues with any of her papers and had got the GC approval letter from the consulate at the same time as my dad.

please let me know if anyone went through a similar situation.

Did she have any immigration violations or irregularities (e.g. a previously abandoned GC application) in the past that would require additional investigation?

If not, they probably just forgot about her file. If they still haven't approved it by the end of this month, she should make a consular appointment through the official channels to visit to inquire about the case (obviously as you know they won't let you randomly enter the consulate).

No she did not have any issues with the process. After further inquiring, we do not know what the problem is. The initial post of passport stamping denied/case reopened in incorrect.

All we know is that her passport was submitted after the interview was completed and we have not heard back from them or received her passport. If there was any review on her case then it has not been conveyed to us. We are unable to actually find a person or a site from where we can get more information. All the call center numbers are useless and i am unable to find a number where we can actually talk to a person with this particular information.
