I just E-filed advance parole 2 days ago, but received an email from USCIS stated that my GC was approved. I have not submitted the supporting documents yet. Does anybody have any suggestion for this? How should I do? Can I just call customer service and retract the AP petition? THANKS.

U need do nothing.
The AP would not have been approved anyway, on the grounds that the applicant is already a Lawful Permanent Resident. You can just let the application lapse. No need to withdraw. If they deny it on the grounds of non-receipt of supporting documents, you no longer care either.

My AP is also pending but my GC just got approved. So let me know if they return the fee that they encashed..other than that, it matters little what they would want to do with my pending AP!!!

Niladri30,

Call them on tuesday!!
Let us know what they say. One thing I'm sure about is they won't refund the money.

Once I read on a forum that if your AP is pending and your GC gets approved, your AP application is converted to the re-entry permit and instead of getting an AP, you get a re-entry. There is no basis to this claim just that I read is on a forum on this site.

If this is true, then atleast you get something for your money. I don't know how useful the re-entry permit will be though.

In that case what happens to GC, can we use GC for entering/going out.
or we have to use re-entry permit every time.

you always use GC once you get it
Reentry permit is required if you have a GC and stay out of US for more than 6 months.

USCIS e-filing customer support 202-514-9713

Almost for all applcations filed at USCIS, there is no fee return even if you withdraw the case. There is an exception to E-filing. If there occurs a technical problem while you submit the application and the fee is collected by USCIS..., but application was not completed..., there is a chance of fee refund..., Such a case occured to me while filing 3rd EAD.., there was a network problem and my creditcard was charged but no reciept was generated..., I collected transaction time from my credit card company and called 202-514-9713. After a long hassle..., USCIS agreed to return $175.
But if your GC is approved.., money is lost.

Guju
Re-entry permit is needed when you intend to stay outside the US for more than one year
( not 6 months ).

For stays < 1 yr, you can return with your GC.

Thanks for your reply. We have filled our I485 cases together in VSC in last week of Dec 2002 and the service centre messed up my case and after my repeated enquiries, they issue me a notice and the RD and ND dates got changed. This is another classy example of how CIS works!

Hi needhelp1,
Visit http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/eFiling.htm

Also from your signature, it seems that the dependant filed her I-485 before the primary applicant, how was it possible?
