I am currently in US on H1b-and I am currently working on a waiver after finishing up my medical residency on J1.My husband is a GC holder sponsored through his employer and got his GC 1.5 yrs ago. My waiver will be done in August 2011 and I am working on filing for change of status to permanent residency after that.We have been married for about 8 yrs now and have a 4 yo kid.
We are also on the verge of a divorce and the questions that I had were:
1. Will the divorce after the change of status affect my permanent residency in any way?
2. How long is it advisable to wait to file for divorce after the change of status happens?
