Hi, i got my GC recently. also i got my Alberta AINP nomination recently and have been asked to submit medicals for AINP canada immigration. i am thinking of submitting the medicals for canada immigration for the time being but will think later on discarding canada immigration or keeping it.

question is, is there any harm in persuing canada immigration while on GC ? Thanks

Hi Ghori, how one can maintain both US and canada permenent resident card ? if someone asks on port of entry, what will we say ? as permenent resident means a bond to one country and one has to spent certain time in the country.

It is possible for a period of time because Canada has much more relaxed requirements for keeping the permanent residency than the USA. So, it is possible to reside in the USA and keep the Canadian status active. After some time, you will have to choose.

When you enter the USA from Canada, make sure not to flash your passport and only present the GC. Tell them you were visiting Canada as a tourist or see the family. This will not be a lie because you are residing in the USA and visit Canada for a short time. When entering Canada, tell them that you are considering moving to Canada in the future before the permanent residency status expires. You will not be able to trick the system because eventually you will have to make a choice.

Canada's requirements are not as stringent as those in the united states so as long as you don't violate any US policies I think you should be fine.
