Hey

Ok im not gay, and neither is my friend in the US (im in the UK), i want a US green card, and he wants a UK green card (if thats what it is, to live here permenantly).

But if we get married, can we both apply for dual citizenship? How long would we have to stay married? And how could this work?

And please, this is a serious post.

Thanks

Matt

My opinion

First things first. If you marry specifically for a green card no matter where you are or who you are straight or gay you are committing marriage fraud.Secondly if you would really like to migrate find another way other than marriage because you are making a mockery of a sacred thing.Thirdly if you do want to have a gay marriage in the US only certain states have recognised gay marriages and i higly DOUBT USCIS Is going to approve you.Thats just my opinion.

Last i heard only britain "approve" pf gay marriage because they cave in if anyone protests at the slightest thing, CIS no.

USCIS goes by federal law and not the state law in this matter. The Federal law does not recognize gay marriages as legal and hence gay couples do not qualify for immigration benefits.

To answer the rest of your question: You need to be a permanent resident for a couple of years in order to be eligible and apply for citizenship. In your case, any immigrtion benefit is out of question unless the law is changed to recognize same-sex marriages. So im sorry to say, it will not work here in the US.

No, people are protecting their country ;)
It's true we "don't own" this land but it's our right and responsibility to protect it against people who plan to disobey the laws of the land...before they even set foot on the land

Like "TooCoolForThis" said: we have our own crooks and criminals...we don't need to import more from other countries

oh that was funny!

ok.. fact: a gay couple has no rights to benefits under USCIS eyes. NO GREEN CARD NO EAD NO NOTHING.

I don't agree with Matt2323, but I can understand. At least they want to be legal wherever they are.

I think the main sticking point here is that Mat2323 asked if he could break the law to gain an immigration benefit that we're all waiting on. The majority of people here have a real tough time trying to do it the legal way. So its the wrong place to ask if you can break the law and gain the same benefit we seek.

Just leave........

Its people like you who make the lives of other people difficult. You need to leave this forum immediately, this forum is for helping honest and law abiding people to help them with their problems and not to assist in 'fraud'.

I want to make a request to the administrators of this forum to ban people like this who are seeking advice on how to commit fraud, it will also bring bad name to this forum.
