Gaps in H1b employment / transfer

Hi,
I have read many posts pertaining to H1b transfer but couldnt find any that address this issue.

When changing jobs, can one take the first week off from the new employment? Say for example, the H1b petition start date is 1st Jan (say Mon) but the actual start date is 8th Jan (following Mon) - I know this is legal. But can one take the time off from 1st Jan - 7th Jan considering the H1b petition is already approved from the new employer and the last working day with old employer is 29th Dec (Fri)? This way there will be no pay check for one week (1st Jan - 7th Jan). Also, if one week is too much time off, will couple of days work intead? Will this one week gap create problems in the future?

You can take your time off with no problem.
Problem arises if you do not have suffienct pay stub while transfering your H1 only.

Before transfering your H1 to any company in future make sure you have atleast 3 months paystub with no break in service.

In between even you take month vacation it will not affect you.
