G-4 & Consulting question

Hi,

I have a friend who is on a G4 visa. She is intersted in doing some part consulting work on the side. The company she would work for would issue her a 1099. Is this allowed under a G4 status?

G-4 consultancy

Only G-4 dependant can work in the US, according to rules. To be able to work, dependant must file request for work permit through visa depratment of the institution for which G-4 visa was issued. Once workpermit is received, work can start. Usual time for WPs are about 180 days between request been made and card is received due to backlogs in state department (INS part is quick, 3 days).

Primary G-4 holder is not allowed to work outside of primary job for which G-4 was granted.
