FYI, I got the following email from the FBI today (after a roughly 6 week delay):
Dear Mr. XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX:
This is in reference to your facsimile received on September 23, 2004, concerning your immigration status. The FBI completed a record check for you on March 10, 2004, and the results were forwarded to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Sincerely yours,
David M. Hardy
Does anyone know if this generally means that the check cleared (presumably if it hadn't it would still be pending)?
FWIW, the sender's email address was Goldsmith, Gertrude M. <Gertrude.Goldsmith@ic.fbi.gov> and the email was apparently sent on 11/06/04 at 9:13AM but it only showed up today (11/07/04 at about 4:00PM).
It's interesting that they say they only completed it on 03/10/04 given that my I-140 / I-485 ND is 10/23/03. My understanding is that the name check *usually* takes < 1 month if nothing turns up. Maybe something turned up in my case...?
I also sent them email on 10/26/04 -- no reply to that so far...
