INS Begins its Annual SWIP Audit
http://www.immigration.com/newsletter1/swipaudit.html

For the third consecutive year, INS offices are in the process of conducting their annual audit. As of September 23, 2002, general file movement will be restricted until the audit is completed.

The VSC advises that, as of Sept. 23, it also ceased internal/external file movement. It will not be mailing petitions to NVC/Consulates, nor will it be receiving files from other offices (Harrisonburg, Nat'l Records Center) until the SWIP audit is complete. Beginning Sept. 27, internal file movement at VSC will cease. Enough work has been staged for officers to keep busy through the duration of the file movement cessation. VSC will have the ability to move Premium Processing cases. It will also have the ability to move expedites in extreme emergencies.

VSC expects that the audit will continue through October 8th, but may be completed sooner. Noting the exceptions above, VSC will not be able to update the CLAIMS system with a final adjudicative action during this time, so approval and denial notices will not be issued throughout the audit. VSC will continue to issue RFE's as this does not constitute a final action.

"approval and denial notices will not be issued throughout the audit" doesn't mean that cases are not processed. Am I right?

THIS JUST ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY SUCKS

what it means is if you hear something it will be an RFE, if you hear nothing it will either mean your case has been approved and wait,, Wait,,, WAIT... till Oct 8th to hear the good news or that it hasn't even been picked up yet..

but in this blackout period there is just no way of knowing

sucks.. Sucks... SUCKS...........

I think i am going to steer clear of all matters immigration and cut down on my visits here till then - it is really depressing..

maybe a visit to Vermont/NH to see the leaves turn and attending a freinds wedding will cheer me up and keep me out of trouble

But I will live up to my name!

They can huff and puff all they want but they can never get me!

Okay i guess it means we will just have to post stupid postings until then;)

Some lucky MD transfer with FEB, 2002 rd get approved. Life really sucks in terms of unfairness! Some Augusters are even waiting. The world is really changed.

does this mean

they will continue to process except that there will be a backlog for printing notices??  :(

Oh Common ric2 - i have nothing against anyone getting approved before me if they applied I-485 after me - I am just waiting for my case to be approved. that's all!!!!..

If someone who is feb 2002 gets approved more power to them..

Life is a bitch, we know it but I am more exasperated at the unfairness of this audit crap!.......... just crap!

A Sept '01 filer!

Please Advice

a suggestion

Lamborghini: After seeing Leaves in Vermont (best in St. Albans), why don't you go to the VSC (St. Albans) in person to see if your 485 has been approved :)

feb. 140, since the auditing and no desicion will be made, it's no difference if you send your EAD applic. next week or hold until after Oct.8.

Why is CSC able to adjudicate...

...while VSC have their hands tied. Why will CSC finish on 10/4, while VSC will finish on 10/8?

Why do they need an audit-they are slow and they know it! The U.S. Congress told them them enough times. Remove the damn bottleneck and then check out how you did and self-congratulate.

I wish that these people would have their contracts renegociated, and them hoding on to their current jobs would be based on performance, and not on laziness. Audits- just another name for a "deserved" two-week vacation.

"Put your life on hold, foolish immigrants, we want to see how well we did and how we can better screw you more!"

AVM says my EAD renewal case got approved

I wonder if I should trust the message given the fact that they are not making any updates or sending out notices. The message did say though, that the new EAD card has been ordered.

gee... do we have to keep waiting for stuff like this too... damn !!!
