INS Begins its Annual SWIP Audit

For the third consecutive year, INS offices are in the process of conducting their annual audit. As of September 23, 2002, general file movement will be restricted until the audit is completed.
The VSC advises that, as of Sept. 23, it also ceased internal/external file movement. It will not be mailing petitions to NVC/Consulates, nor will it be receiving files from other offices (Harrisonburg, Nat'l Records Center) until the SWIP audit is complete. Beginning Sept. 27, internal file movement at VSC will cease. Enough work has been staged for officers to keep busy through the duration of the file movement cessation. VSC will have the ability to move Premium Processing cases. It will also have the ability to move expedites in extreme emergencies.
VSC expects that the audit will continue through October 8th, but may be completed sooner. Noting the exceptions above, VSC will not be able to update the CLAIMS system with a final adjudicative action during this time, so approval and denial notices will not be issued throughout the audit. VSC will continue to issue RFE's as this does not constitute a final action.
