Full Name in SS and PR Card Mismatch

Hi,

I have my first name and last name in correct order in my PR card.
But the first name and last name is swapped in my SS Card. I recently applied for a job and the potential employer wants me to have the first and last name matching in both the PR and SS Cards.
I have applied for Citizenship and awaiting Fingerprinting. I am not sure if I can have it changed with SS Authorities to reflect the full name as in PR Card (Which is the correct one). I am worried if this would pose any problems with FBI or with the Immigration Authorities for obtaining Citizenship.

You can go to the SSA and ask them to change the name on your card to reflect the correct name order. Show them your GC as proof. They'll enter the change on the spot and you'll receive your new SS card in the mail in about 5 days.

Your mistake was showing them both the SS card and GC. The GC alone is sufficient for employment eligibility, according to the I-9.

However, it is still possible that electronic verification of your SSN would turn up the name mismatch, even if you didn't show them the card.

you can change in SS card by showing GC. but some companies like mine only look at SS card and take the name in SS card for the records. They do not look at GC. my SS card does not have my 2nd middle name

Specifying that you must show the SS card is illegal, if done for determining employment eligibility. The employer is not allowed to choose which documents the employee is to show for the I-9. If you showed the GC (and verbally told them or wrote down your SSN) that should be enough.

I am thinking of going to the SS office and have my full name straightened as per my GC. I have a feeling that in future most employers might start using this.
I hope that changing my name with SS does not affect my citizenship application or during the processing.

OK, if they're using eVerify then it doesn't matter whether you showed them the physical SS card or not. Time to go to the SS office ASAP.

Did you get the job? Or is this stopping you from getting it?

I highly doubt that it will have any effect at all on the naturalization process. The SSA made a mistake in the order of your names on your SS card, so you corrected it. Case closed.
