FT Work for US company and PT work for CDN company

Hello all!

I (a Canadian citizen, currently residing in Ontario) will be moving to California next week for a full-time position with a US company. My current company in Canada is discussing potentially keeping me on as a contract or part-time worker (working only 1 to 2 hours a week). This work would be done remotely for the Canadian company from my California address.

Would continuing to work for the Canadian company be a violation of my TN status?

The highlighted line of the TN handbook has me concerned:

you will have IRS issues if you don't claim the income.

you can ONLY work for the US company on your TN-1. No other US company else it requires a new TN-1 with at new company. the canadian company is not a problem
