Updated 12/14/01: Important Notice to Immigrant Visa Applicants in India

AILA has reported that beginning from January 1, 2002, all the immigrant visa applicants over 16 years of age must submit "two" Indian Police Certificates, one from the local police station, and the other from the Regional Passport Office of your jurisdiction. Very important.

I am sure this is because of the Sep-11 things.

There is another post here which says that Delhi consulate is fine if you get PCC from Indian Consulate in US , if you have only been in India & US .

Mimbai Consulate Guys , do you have any news about Mumbai ??
