Again for those who still remember me i have reached the last leg of my journey,I had my interview today and i passed it. It went unexpectedly smooth despite of getting myself ready to answer any question that would arise.

to my surprise the only questions poised to me were the civics and English the next thing was to to get a congratulations letter.

I hope that all of you go through the journey successfuly

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATS!!!!!

:)

Tell us a little bit more about your case... Was it only you or did your family applied too? Did they ask you about traveling back to your COP? How many questions where there asked?

Tell us everything PLEASE
:D

you won`t believe the IO asked me like 10 civics and English questions and handed me a congratulations letters, told me that i should expect to do my Oath in a couples of months, and should expect my Oath date letter in a few days.

01/1995- Granted asylum
08/2003-GC approved
02/09/07 - RD/PD
03/15/07 - FP done (cleared same day)
04/16/07 - IV ND
06/19/07 - IV done
OATH DATE??????

Congrats my friend. Hopefully the oath letter will come quickly and not in a few months.

I know you weren't asked a lot of questions - and I hope it is like that for all of use. However, when you first went into the interview, were you asked for your passport in addition to your GC? I read someone's experience the other day (another asylee) where the IO questioned him about a national passport and asked why the applicant did not have one. The IO specifically asked whether or not the applicant used another person's passport to enter the USA. I'm a little concerned about that as I do not have a national passport and did not use a passport to enter the country.

Keep us in the loop as to your oath date. Hope to join you in the citizen's circle soon.

Congratulation..i'm so happy cause i know what a big emotion you have in your heart..
i ve got my green card this year may 2007 backdated 2006..and i'm counting with my fingers the time for aply to be a citizen of this beautiful country..
can i ask you if you got your green card in 2003...so you just waited just four years.?.you are very lucky to be married with an american citizen..
have you ever traveled to your COP? or updated your cop passport?
please tell us more about everything?
enjoy your good news ...my best wishes

yes he asked me to show him my passport,DL and GC.that i suppose is a standard procedure, but he did not even touch my passport.

Oh well - I suppose the IO will have to be satisfied with an explanation and my Re-Entry Permit in lieu of a national passport.

Again - congrats on the smooth interview experience.

Renewing your passport after obtaining a GC shouldn`t be a problem, but going back to your home country should be if you do not have a valid reason. It must be emergency and you should be prepared to show evidence that it was one.

Green Card in 2003 means residence since since 2002.Then 2002-2007 = 5 years required for citizenship

Sessanga, I also remember that you filed a I-602 right? That wasn't discussed?

COngrats again! Can you tell us what state you are in and how long did it take from actual mailing the application to getting approved?

thanks guys for your answers :)
no i DON'T have any plans( past, present, future) to go to my COP..sadly i don't have nothing to do there :( ,BUT i was scare about to renew my passport..mine was losed in a water floating in my old apartment( long history)..i keep some pieces of the old passport( but it's messy) and my lawyer gave some old color copies of it and my first visa
i'VE got my green card in may 2007 :D and i really want to travel to europe but i don't want to use reentry permit or refuggee document cause i know some aiports give hell to people with these documents.
what i gonna do is renew my passport cause to be honest i don't have any intention to travel to my COP..have a great day guys
