700,000 unemployed. Unemployment at 5.7%, its highest since the great depression.
Number of immigrant's in year 2001, 2+Mln.

As the US cannot use the "Final solution"as Germany did with jews, the freeze is the temporary "semi/quarter-final solution".

Reminds me of the headlines in newspapers in Germany during Hitler's time(holocaust museum..I am not THAT old!)

Don't be too surprised if the freeze is being enforced in light of a legislation which may be passed soon as part of the rules under the Homeland Security Bill.
 
That's not true. Otherwise, the INS would have stopped the GC lottery and president Bush would have not increased the number of asylees allowed to enter the US.
Remember, current freeze of approval is not only for EB I-485, but also Family-based and even Naturalization (N-400).
 
As I said, this freeze is for all I-485 (not only EB but also FB), and N400. So I don't think there have been approvals for permanent residency or citizenship, regardless of the route.

Your original post suggests that the freeze is due to the high number of unemployment. That is not true. The freeze is due to security checks, not the economy or employment-related issues.
