Freelancing on a H-1b visa

Couple of questions- I'm currently on a H-1b visa and got a lucrative offer to freelance (I will work online and do not physically go to the office)- and they are going to deposit the money in my NRI account-
Is it legal to work for them without a add-on H-1b visa?? could you please let me know

While you are in US with H1 any money receiving other than H1 sponser is not legal.

legal money - interest form deposits, share transaction, rental from home, business partnership share etc.
