All,

2 questions:

1) Is getting FP2 notice good........ meaning that there is some progress in the case?
2) Can I go the Local INS office before the scheduled FP2 date?

Sorry if I am asking questions that have been answered before. (If yes, can you point me to the thread).

Thanks in advance.

In one or the other way, it's good sign. Lot better than a waiting game for FP2. Definitely they haven't misplaced your application, and possibly some one is taking a look at your application or dustng it :)

You can always try it. Some succeded and some did not. There is a good chance that you may get approval ahead of time, if every thing else is in place (per USCIS).

By the way what are your dates?

I was actually previously opposed to suggesting that you try early FP, however, interesetingly enough, consider my scenario. My FPs were scheduled for today and, due to mourning (a very valid reason), all field offices are closed. Based on the notice, it is unclear if Wednesday is a make up for today (for this particular field office), since it also says that new notices will be issued.

So, the worst that can happen is that you get turned back, if you are in the proximity of the field office, try an early FP, you stand to lose nothing and avoid a potentially problematic situation and an extended wait time.

Try going to the local office in the afternoon when there are fewer people and there is a smaller queue, i did that and it worked. In my case i went in the morning to Newark office and they refused to let me in as i had missed the date. I tried in the afternoon and it worked.

I will personally try going around lunch time, as I am due for FPs in a field office that is nowhere as busy as Newark, in fact, most likely one of the smallest in the country... I am just somewhat perplexed by additional notices being sent, because they can take a while. I will certainly take my chance...
