I was reading about fingerprints on the USCIS website and came across this line, "USCIS now employs a system where fingerprints are taken and submitted electronically to the FBI."
Does this mean that the prints are taken electronically or that they are take the old-fashioned way and then scanned before being sent to the FBI electronically?
I'm just curious since they took my prints using ink and a fingerprint card in January 2005 for my N400 application. I noticed that some people were having their prints taken digitally. However, in September 2003 I had my prints taken for my GC renewal digitally as well as ink prints.
