FP reschedule

Hi,

I received my FP notice 3 weeks back and have an appointment for next week.
But the caveat is that I don\'t have the passport(H1 revalidation) and have already booked my ticket to India in Oct.

I need to postpone this FP till Jan\' 2003.

My FP notice doesn\'t say anything about postponing but says that if the FP is not done by end of Sep\'02 then my application is abandoned.

I called INS to reschedule and the person said that if you are not able to meet the appointment date, then reapply for 485.

Pls advise on how to go about rescheduling......

Just Send in your Letter in Original to INS and request them for a Date change. The will send you a slip where it says the same can be done in 84 days.

I am doin CP and my inetrview is in August. As job was uncertain my lawyer filed 485 end of June. Now I have FP schedule for Aug. I want a smooth CP . SO I would like to know if INS will try to retrieve the file from the consulate and the impact of this on CP. If I don't go for FP my application will be abandoned.
Please suggest what I should do. Withdraw the 485 or just don;t show up foro FP
