Normally when the technician notices a ridge break they would repeatedly print that finger until the machine signals \'pass\'. Even if they miss it, the supervisor who approves the FP will check and have them re-do until a successful print is obtained. It does not matter how many times they printed your finger/s. What matters is the final print for each finger. On the other hand, if you have a cut on your finger, there is nothing they can do about it. That is why it is recommended that you ensure that there are not cuts and there is no skin peeling when you go for FP.
Do you know for a fact that you got ridge breaks? You should have insisted that they print repeatedly until a good print is obtained. But that\'s neither here nor there.
Now, your question is what happens if there were ridge breaks and the FP\'s were sent to FBI. FBI will possibly return them as unclassifiable. If that happens INS will send you a re-do FP notice. At that time make sure you get no ridge breaks. Because if FBI rejects the prints as unclassifiable for the second time INS will put you in line for an interview.
Yes, there have been a few cases where folks had their FP\'s rejected the first time and they got it right the second time. I also remember a couple of cases where the second print also was not good so they had to go for interview.
