FP Question - earlier date...

I received my FP notice this week. Can I go in earlier (walkin) for my FP? Will this affect the processing my application? Please help. I will be arriving back in town just that morning and don\'t want to risk it. Specially after hearing all the horror stories associated with re-scheduling etc....
 
FP done earlier

got my FP notice yesterday 1/9 and it was scheduled for 2/8/02 but i had it done today 1/10/02.

Completed FP today. Was very simple process and the staff at INS Bronx were very helpfull and courteous. I was scheduled for 1/24 but got it done today. Overall, it took less than an hour to complete. No long queues to stand in. While we waited, we watched part of "Toy Story II" running on a TV in the waiting area :).
 
we did FP in hackensack,scheduled for 1/25/2002 but we did on 1/12/2002

i guess most of the ASCs are allowing to do before,so if any one wants to do before the appointment date can give it a try

It seems you are in new york area too.
Did you call up to find out if the center was open on Saturday or did you just took a chance and walked in My FP is scheduled for 1/29 but due to some emergency i would like to go in the saturday before.

Tanu Rajvanshi, most ASC\'s are open on Saturdays. You can check if they are open by going to the INS website and searching for Finger Printing. This will lead you to a page where there is a link for ASC\'s. Each ASC\'s business days and hours are listed. I know the Bronx location is open on Saturday and so is the one in New Rochelle. They do not give out their phone numbers. You have to take a chance and go there. Also, an indication of whether they are open on Saturday is given in the reschedule part of the FP notice where they ask you if you want to reschedule for the next available Wednesday or Saturday (in my case). I took a chance and went today. I explained my situation to the guy on the reception and he suggested whether i would like to do FP today itself. Filled a form and waited for around half an hour for my number to be called.FP was done in 5 minutes. altogether a very pleasant experience. Now if the whole GC process is as painless and pleasant....
 
How far is the two dates apart?

Actually my scheduled date was jan 29th and i went on jan 23rd so you can say they were pretty close.
But i am not sure if this is relevant.
 
Diff in FP scheduled date and actual date...

I don\'t think it matters. I went about 20 days before the scheduled date. No problems. Same experience as Tanu Rajv... Officer just asked if I wanted to get it done right away. We were all done within 45 minutes.
