FP INFO (MUST READ): How System#1 and System#2 work

Talked to a nice and patient IIO today. She was helpful in explaining how
the two systems work. According to her, this is how it works:

System #1 : This is the CSC local system. This is where our file resides
            and is processed. This can be accessed via WAC# or A# by the IIO.
            
System #2 : This is the Nationwide system. This is where FBI sends our
            Finger Print Results to. This usually requires A# to access.

Once the application is approved the two systems talk to each other.

Now, when FP Notices are issued, this is what shows up in system #2:
"Order FP agency checked on "

After they receive your FP results from FBI in System #2, this is how it reads:
"Investigative Report Agency Checked on "

(She read this out to me, so I know she is not making it up).

Now coming back to my specific case, (this info might be helpful to those
who have dates close to mine):

My details:
               WAC 01-141-xxxxx
               RD: 03/05/01 ND: 03/27/01
               Last Name: "R"
               PD: 04/1997 (EB3/India)
               FP Notice received in mail: 10/06/01
               FP date scheduled on the notice: 10/31/01
               FP done (ahead of schedule): 10/09/01
               Center: San Jose, CA

               Wife\'s FP Notice received on: 10:20/01
               Wife\'s FP date scheduled for: 11/09/01
               Wife\'s FP done (ahead of schedule): 10/23/01
               
Wife\'s info in System #2:
"Order FP agency checked on 10/12/01" (meaning FP issued on 10/12)

My info in System #2:
"Investigative Report Agency Checked on 10/12/01" (meaning recvd FBI results)

Both cases not in System #1 yet.

Another key info that she gave me was that my file was moved from the
shelf to the "right place" on 08/17/01 (my ND: 03/27/01). This "right
place" is where the officers pick up the file from. She also said that
currently they are picking up files from this "right place" from 07/30/01.

Finally she told me that it could take another 6 months for approval,
but said that officially thats the max it could take. She said I should
expect it much sooner than that.

Hope this info helps others to interpret the mysteries of INS :)

Great info.

Your information verified a lot of previous guesses about system #1 and system #2. But one point I don\'t understand is about this "right place" where officer pick the files from. It seems that they moved your file to that right place long before you have done your FP. My question is, they move someone\'s case based on what? Notice date? FP date? Last Name? Or just totally random? Does it mean that the date when they moved your file is the most important date which decides when you can be approved? Can someone explain this?
 
But my message is different.

My AVM message says FP were collected on Oct 16 2001.
I did FP on OCt 05th 2001.
So what does that mean?????

How do you check System 2 message - What is the phone no to check this?

The phone no. that we call for CSC AVM give system 1 info I guess - because it is not updated in there, Could you please share this info!

At SJ ASC they don\'t really ask. If you go at a time when there
are not many people in the line, they usually let you take FP
ahead of schedule.

There is no phone number for System#1 or System #2. I was
explaining how the IIO\'s get the information for you when
you call the CSC info line (949-831-8427).

I doubt it. They won\'t approve your case before checking your record using FPs. And this conflicts with what INS says in their internal I-485 processing guide. To my understanding, INS periodically (how long the period is is a question which answer is worth $100,000) checked the FP status of pending cases by inquiring system #2, then move cases with FP cleared to adjudication stage in BATCHES.

Correct me if I\'m wrong, gurus.

I agree with you and it makes sense. Even I didn\'t agree to what
the IIO told me about "systems talking to each other". I am sure
they check it from time to time (others experience show that it
happens within 2 weeks) that the info moves from System 2 to System 1.

I did my FP ahead on 10/20.
AVM is not updated yet. It says like "it takes 975 days..."
What to do?

This is nothing alarming. I did my FP on 10/09 it still says
"it will take between 975-999 days...".

Just stay put. Your file (hopefully) is in the process.

But mine says

I did mine on 10/19

And mine still says:\'on Oct4th, we mailed you FP notice..........\'
That\'s the message after they sent FP.It still says the same thing
 
AVM checked with WAC#

So, if you check the AVM with WAC#, and it says your FP was received,does that mean that your FP moved to system # 1.
I think so.

Any ideas as to how we can check system # 2 ourselves instead of calling IIO. I\'ve trying givng A#.But it doens\'t take it. It is such a pain to get hold of a IIO

Mitr: Thanks. But is it just 2 weeks? As I know according to some live cases it\'s taken months to do that for some unlucky folks, who check this using the trick of WAC#/A#. Anybody can tell us: how long it will take now for INS-CSC to move an I-485 case with FP cleared to adjudication stage? Or the question could be: how long will it take from when your FP is done to when your FP status is posted on System 1?

From this forum, it looks like for most of the people it takes
about 2-3 weeks. Obviously, there is an unpredictably when it
comes to INS issues. According to IIO, it could take upto 6
months for the approval after you do your FP.
