Hi All,

I am so glad to inform everyone that I completed my FP today. I had an interesting experience there and so wanted to share with you all:)

I was initially scheduled for 12/24 and then got rescheduled for 1/4/08. Damn Bush:mad: He gave them an extra holiday on Christmas Eve.... I'm not mad for the holiday he gave them but because I got rescheduled.

We have a holiday break till the 2nd and I didn't want to take half a day off 2 days later. So I just walked in today. Thanks for the ideas by people on this forum!!!!;) We took a chance by going today. The guy at the window asked me for the papers and while showing it to him I told him that earlier I was going to visit my Family in Texas for Christmas but after seeing the initial FP notice of 12/24, I decided to go during the New Year for a week. I had all my air tickets booked too. Then I received this new FP notice for 1/4 but I can't cancel my tickets now. So, just came today... He was nice enough to take us. He was just sitting idle actually with just 1 more person waiting for FP. He stamped the FP notice and gave us a white form which we filled out. Then we took the form back to the counter. By then there was another guy at the counter. He saw my notice and kind'a screamed "WALK IN for FP" I told him the whole story and he said he has heard all sorts of stories during the holidays, but he believed me. Come on man... these federal employees don't want to work at all:mad: There were 2 guys to take the FP and in the half an hour we spent there, there were only 3 people for FP (including me and my wife). Upon asking about the rescheduling of 12/24, he mentioned that during the last year of presidency, every President gives them an extra holiday at the last minute. So, every 4 years they get an extra day off. He did my FP and was showing my how they can even count all the pores of my prints. He enlarged one FP to about the size of my face and I could see the pores of the FP. He even showed me why they take the prints twice - once for all the fingers at once and then individual fingers. The individual finger print matches up with the one taken with all fingers together. It shows what percentage is matched. He messed up one print to show me how it gave an error and then redid it. He was being very friendly later on. He also told me that these prints are checked online to the FBI while being taken. The whole thing got over in like 20 minutes from the time we got there.

I am glad that I could get the FP done in exactly 1 month from the date of N-400 mailing. Now I’ll count down for my IL notice… I hope it comes by end of January … what do you say guys???? Is that being too greedy? Well I waited for 3 years for my GC when my other friends got it in 2 years during the same time.

Happy New Year!

Sorry to burst your bubble of joy, but interview by end of January is wishful thinking. I would count more towards sometime in 2nd quarter 2008, if not longer.

According to the recent statistics of the Nebraska Service Center, people are being Interviewed in about 2 months from the FP date. So, I should be Interviewed around end of Feb/early March.... which means I should get the IL around mid Feb. I guess this is more realistic. But, we'll see how the processing at the NSC goes. I don't think it will be as late as 2nd Quarter of 2008 though as mentioned by Bobsmyth.

Note: Interview dates are dependent on DO, not SC.(ie different DOs under same SC have different times between FP and interview)

Did you publish the statistics yourself? DO they have anything for CSC?

I am with NSC and would loveeeee to get the statistics you are talking about.
Pre Jun 2007, it used to take 4 months here in KC to get your citizenship from application to passing interview. (average based on friends I know)..
Post Aug 2007, I did not hear or read from anyone who received IL letter.
It is taking more time unfortunately.

Bobsmyth is right in saying that the IL is dependent on the DO. I just calculated the statistics by looking at the dates people have posted on this forum as well as immihelp. We'll see how th eprogree goes next year.

You didn't hear anything about post Aug 2007, because all the folks in that time frame are just starting to get fingerprinted. So, I think we need to start counting the time frame from when the NOA has been received, etc. That would give a more accurate picture as to whether or not the DO's are maintaining the same processing times. It would be unfair to hold the local DOs accountable for the time in which our applications sat in the mail room due to the inefficiency of the service centers - although all of USCIS is to blame.
