FP Appointments

My husband just received his FP notice, and we called for an appointment and they're completely booked for 42 days, and they won't make any new appointments. The lady said she doesn't know when they'll begin accepting appointments and the best thing to do is call everyday and hopefully they'll have a cancellation.
Is that what everyone here did or did you get an appointment on the first phone call? We're in the Atlanta area, and the lady said she has openings in Birmingham, should we opt for that? Or will that cause problems seeing how we're in Atlanta?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks. :)

It is a dielemma why there is the "booked for 42 days". If they are booked for 42 days why not make the appointment for the 43rd day instead of asking to call on the next dat. Oh well USCIS moves in mysterious ways.
Anywasys to answer your question, I got the same response when I tried to do my FP as well. So I did my FP in a different state where they were not booked.
Calling earlier everyday didn't help me either. So the best bet would be to do the FP wherever you can get an appointment if you are willing to make the drive, and it won't cause any problems.
thank you.
NOTE- Some people in Atlanta were able to do early FP as well. The way to do this is to take your receipt and take your chance on getting the FP done. Look around in this forum and you'll get more answers.

Does this case mean that you need to make appointment after getting FP notice? I thought that FP notices already print your appointment day on it. Maybe both ways works. I am a little confused.

For I-130/I-485/I-765 which all are family based you have to call yourself and make appontments. I do not know about the other categories. For EB i think they send you a letter about where and when to get your FP done.
thank you

Thanks so much for your reply.. I think we will just book an FP appointment for Birmingham, even though it's 3 hours away.
And if he has a day off during the week we'll try the early FP. If we get declined for it, that's not a mark against him is it?

I still can't believe one guy told me to call Monday 8am to get an appt, and this lady said it doesn't matter when you call.. it won't be booked and she doesn't know when the "next cycle" begins.
*shrug* Seems to me they enjoy making it hard on us :)

But that's ok.. we're well on our way!
