I just cam back from FP for I-485(code 3) in Columbus,OH. I was scheduled for 8am and was done around 8:30. The process was smooth and no complications at all. Also I had scheduled infopass for today because it has been 90 days since I applied for EAD and I still haven't received anything. Well, I got my answer for question that was bothering my over thanksgiving(where is my EAD??) and here it is:
I had a F1 visa with OPT that expired in June this year. I got married to USC and when I was filling out AOS,EAD,AP and I-130 I put A# on the applications as the one I had on my OPT. That was wrong because it created confusion in the whole process. I think once my application process started I was automatically granted new A# and then I had this old A# and everything got stuck. Anyway, the officer today gave me walkin for biometrics for i765 and next week I have to come back to pick up my EAD.:).It was nice that I got done two fingerprintings at once but still I would probably have my EAD long time ago if A# was correct or I would have left A# blank on the applications.
Also one of office members told me that USCIS is already working on this issue..... .

Another issue I have isthis:
I just received denial for AP but I didn’t ask the officer today if it was denied because of two A#'s. On the notice from USCIS it says that I was denied because I'm not a permanent resident. Well, I'm not I know that but I swear that before I sent it, I've read somewhere in instructions that I can apply for AP concurrently with my I485(same as EAD). Please correct me if I'm wrong and give me some advice on this subject?!

Uhmmm, I think they got confuse about re-entry permit. Check how you filled your AP in your copy. Did you correct already all the A# problem in all your documents?
Good luck,

yeah, i think cherr is right. did you apply AP or reentry permit? since 131 is pretty confusing, you might have checked the wrong box. reentry permit is only available for GC holders who stay overseas for more than 1 year.

I didn't make a copy of the application but on decision notice is says reentry permit. Then it says:
Title 8 part 223.1 a reentry permit allows a permanent resident to apply for admission to the US upon return from abroad during the period of the permit's validity without the necessity of obtaining a returning visitor's visa.
So basically that would be the case when someone with GC goes abroad and stays longer than a year and then wants to come back ?Why permanent resident would need reentry permit? Is it possible to have GC and not be able to travel abroad ??
Then continues on the decision more:
Reentry permit. Except as otherwise provided in this section an application may be approved if filed by a person who is in US at the time of application and is a lawful permanent resident or conditional permant resident.
hmm for me I'm a permanent resident under condition that I will get my GC sooner or later(I hope it will happen someday).I guess thats where I was wrong. So which form I should fill out now ? Probably I will have to pay again too?

Well nicpon, you must apply again. And remember make a copy of everything you send. Re-entry permit, advance parole and humanitarian parole are the same form but you must check and fill out the correct blocks per instructions.
Permanent residents (not the ones who want to be one :) ) should apply for a re-entry permit if they are going to stay outside the country for more than a year. As a permanent resident you can travel freely BUT you suppose to live in the US and work in the US (unless some exceptions like armed forces or US govt). If you stay longer than a year outside can make the impression that you are not living in the US.
