Folks,

I just received second FP notice. The website is not updated yet. Does receiving FP notice mean that an officer has picked up the case? Also, in the FP notice, the 'SERVICE CENTER' is listed as WSC. What is WSC?

How long the FP is valid. I did my 1st fp on nov 1, 2002. MY Nd date is Jan 23, 2002.

By the way, does anyone know why the fingerprints expire?? As far as I know, the fingerprints of a human being does not change with age....

Fingerprints do not expire, criminal record check expires.
BCIS does not store our fingerprints, so, to make another check thru FBI, they need to start from scratch.

People often ask, "How can fingerprints expire?" as they do not change. It is not actually the fingerprints that expire, but the reports that are generated from the fingerprints. The fingerprints are not retained, so an updated report cannot be obtained without new fingerprints. This change, hopefully, will fix the problem and help the case processing times in a small way, at least.

An update. I just finished my finger prints. I did it early. I'm supposed to appear on Oct 29. This was in San Jose.

It took 10 minutes for the whole thing. No wait time.

One interesting note. Before actually capturing my FPs, the lady in charge asked me to verify my details in the computer. I saw the name of a person followed by some numbers in one of the sections. Wonder if it is an officer working on my case. The whole thing looked like a persons id. I asked the lady and she said I don't need to look at that section.

Tasse, it's the same old message corresponding to my first FP. I did second FP couple of hours back. I think it will take 3-4 days to update.

I too finished second FP yesterday, earlier than the scheduled date of 10/28 at BCIS Oakland. It took about just twenty muntes for my family.

My online message didn't change. I expect this to change only after one or two weeks.

Online message didn't change. It's very funny. If post office lose my second FP notice, I will never know about it.

Just an update. Online status changed to FP received.

On line status

On October 10, 2003, the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made.
