Former H1 needs Police clearance from US for K1 / K3?

Hello,

I had worked in US from 2001-2002(1.5yrs) on H1.Since Aften then I am working In India.

I read this on one of the immigration sites ::-

" Present and former residents of the United States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the US."

Is this right?

I plan to apply for K1 / K3.

Does it mean I dont need to take police clearance from USA, at the time of interview in India?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Hello Friends,

Now that I dont need PC from USA. All I would need now is to get PC's from India.
Complication is :--

My latest ( 2nd) Passport is made in Bangalore, India where I lived for 3 yrs but now i am living in Delhi, India for past 3 yrs.( First Passport was from Delhi, where I reside now).

Do I need Police Clearance's from Bangalore and Delhi , Both?

And secondly , Does the Corresponding Passport offices issue the Police clearance certificates OR the local Police Stations?

I read this couple of sites , but I am still confused, based on my situation, where my passports address is that of Bangalore, and I am now in Delhi,

Do I need 4 police certificates like ?? :-
1. Passport office in Bangalore
2. Passport office in Delhi
3. District Local Police station in Bangalore where I resided
4. District Local Police station in Delhi where I reside

:-) complicated right?

OR I need much less PC's than I am thinking !!! :-)

Cannot help you with your India specific questions, but I was asked to produce just one PC for all my stay in Pakistan. I lived in two different cities/provinces in Pakistan. A single PC issued by my local Pakistani consulate was enough for the Montreal US consulate to issue me a K-1 visa.

pcc from usa needed??????

hello all,


I has stayed in US ( fremont) for 1.5yrs in 2001-2002.

As we established that we dont need pcc from usa, but recently talking to a lawyer in US, she said I will need pcc from Fremont also !!!?
why is this coming up?

What is the reality?
